Las redes MANET tienen amplias aplicaciones en las comunicaciones inalámbricas modernas. Las redes MANET se definen como el conjunto de nodos móviles que
comparten un canal inalámbrico. La comunicación entre los nodos puede realizarse a través de nodos intermedios que actúan como enrutadores. Los proto colos de ruteo se encargan de descubrir y mantener la ruta entre el nodo fuente y el destino a través de la red. En una red MANET la movilidad de los nodos es uno de los problemas que deben afrontar los protocolos de ruteo debido a las pérdidas de enlaces que puede provocar la misma. Varios protocolos de ruteo se han propuesto para redes MANET, los cuales se dividen en tres grupos fundamentales: proactivos, reactivos e híbridos. En el presente trabajo se compara el desempeño de los rotocolos de ruteo seleccionados dos de tipo reactivo (AODV y DSR) y dos proactivos (OLSR y DSDV). Los protocolos seleccionados son comparados en términos de demora promedio, razón de pérdida de paquetes y tiempo promedio de restablecimiento de la ruta perdida, utilizando el software NS3 para la simulación de la red MANET.
