Resumen
La ciudad de Cienfuegos posee un valioso patrimonio construido, donde las
construcciones de arquitectura en madera se insertan en el legado histórico que llega
hasta el presente. No existen trabajos de inventario actualizados, que posibiliten su
conocimiento y conservación, por lo que la presente investigación titulada: “La
arquitectura doméstica de madera en Cienfuegos desde la segunda mitad del siglo XIX hasta la primera mitad del siglo XX” tiene como objetivo caracterizar dicha arquitectura
como un instrumento para su conservación, estrategia de intervención.
A través de una revisión bibliográfica especializada se analizaron definiciones,
características, orígenes y evolución de la arquitectura de madera y su influencia en el
continente americano, además se estudió la evolución de la ciudad de Cienfuegos en los
aspectos económico, social, urbanístico y arquitectónicos hasta la mitad del siglo XX, las
generalidades de esta tipología en la arquitectura cienfueguera y la presencia de la
madera en otras manifestaciones artísticas.
Mediante la observación documental y de campo, se ubicaron las viviendas de madera
en los repartos La Gloria y Juanita II de la ciudad y se sintetizaron los datos obtenidos en
fichas técnicas y en estudios detallados a las viviendas más significativas, información
que contribuyó a la caracterización de este tipo de arquitectura.
Cienfuegos city has a valuable built heritage, where wooden architecture constructions are inserted in the historical legacy that reaches the present. There are no updated inventory works or characterization of the built heritage, which enable their knowledge and conservation, so that this research entitled: "The domestic architecture of wood in Cienfuegos from the second half of the nineteenth century to the first half of the twentieth century" Its objective is to characterize the mentioned architecture as an instrument for its conservation, intervention strategy. Through a specialized bibliographic review definitions, characteristics, origins and evolution of the wooden architecture and its influence in the American continent were analyzed, as well as the evolution of Cienfuegos city in the economic, social, urban and architectural aspects up to half of the twentieth century, the generalities of this typology in Cienfuegos architecture and the presence of wood in other artistic manifestations. By means of documentary and field observation, the wooden houses were located in La Gloria and Juanita II districts of the city and the data obtained in technical data sheets and in detailed studies of the most significant dwellings were synthesized, information that contributed to the characterization of this type of architecture.
