In the present work a preliminary study of the stabilization / solidification of galvanic sludge of the Industrial Company of Fixed Installations of Santa Clara municipality in portland cement matrices was carried out. For the above, the physical-chemical characterization of the waste was carried out, determining the parameters density, humidity, pH, electrical conductivity and the content of organic matter. The total concentration of metals in the residues was determined by X-Ray Fluorescence and the content of sulfate, chloride, nitrite, nitrate and phosphate was determined using Ion Chromatography. Simple extractions were carried out using deionized water and diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA), to evaluate the mobility and bioavailability of the residue. The results showed that Cu is the most bioavailable metal. Through the use of the leaching test SPLP (Synthetic Precipitation Leaching Procedure) and TCLP (Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure) the leaching potential of the metals to the environment was estimated and the toxicity of the waste was evaluated before and after stabilized in the cement matrix. portland From the analysis, it was recorded that the order of metals in terms of their concentration is Fe> Zn> Cr> Ni> Cu. When incorporated into the cement matrix, the efficiency in retention ranged from 96% to 99%.
