Resumen
La expansión que ha venido experimentando el turismo a nivel internacional durante las últimas décadas hacia mercados alternativos, donde la naturaleza, su cuidado y mantenimiento constituyen el centro de atención y disfrute del viajero, posibilita que Cuba pueda lograr una superación en su oferta turística dentro de este nuevo mercado y ofrecer algo más allá del tradicional turismo de sol y playa.
La presente investigación pretende dar respuesta a la necesidad, que tiene actualmente el Refugio de Fauna de Cayo Santa María, de una infraestructura capaz de ofrecer este sitio como producto turístico exclusivo de naturaleza, dentro de un mercado dominado y saturado por el ya mencionado turismo de sol y playa. Para lograr esto se plantea una propuesta de ideas de diseño orientadas hacia una intervención responsable con el medio natural que dote al área del apoyo necesario para desarrollar la actividad ecoturística sin dañar sus riquezas naturales.
Para el desarrollo de esta propuesta se llevó a cabo una investigación sobre la intervención en este tipo de áreas y los criterios que se manejan a nivel nacional e internacional al respecto. Se elaboró además en un segundo momento una lista de necesidades sobre las que se dirige el trabajo de diseño analizando el contexto natural y antrópico que presenta actualmente el Cayo.
Finalmente en un tercer momento es dado como resultado la propuesta de intervención, así como un estudio técnico económico que permitirá su ejecución dentro del período de vigencia del actual Plan de Manejo del Refugio.
The international tourism has come experiencing an expansion during the last decades toward alternative markets where the nature, their care and maintenance constitute the center of attention and the traveler's enjoyment, this situation facilitates that Cuba can overcome its tourist offer, inside this new market, and to offer something beyond the traditional tourism of sun and beach. The current investigation seeks to give answer to the necessity that has actually the Refuge of Fauna of Key Santa María, of an infrastructure able to offer this place like an exclusive product of nature tourism, inside a dominated market and already saturated by the mentioned tourism of sun and beach. To achieve this, a proposal of design ideas guided toward an intervention responsible with the environment was explained in such a way that offer to the area the necessary support for to develop the ecotourism activity without damaging their natural wealth’s. For the development of this proposal an investigation about the intervention in this kind of areas and the approaches that are managed at national and international level in this respect was carried out. In a second moment, a list of necessities for the development of the design work was also elaborated analyzing the natural context and the man's intervention that it presents, at the moment, in the Key. Finally, in a third moment, it is given the intervention proposal as a result, as well as a technical economic study that will allow their execution in the period of validity of the current Plan of Handling of the Refuge.
