Resumen

Los dueños y gerentes de negocios necesitan tener información económico-financiera actualizada para tomar las decisiones correspondientes sobre sus futuras operaciones. La información económico-financiera de un negocio se encuentra, en su mayoría, en los estados financieros que emiten las entidades y que resultan de gran utilidad en el proceso de dirección. La expresión "estados financieros" comprende: Balance general, estado de ganancias y pérdidas, estado de cambios en el patrimonio neto, estado de flujos de efectivo (EFE), notas, otros estados y material explicativo, que se identifica como parte de los estados financieros. Las características fundamentales que debe tener la información financiera son utilidad y confiabilidad. La utilidad, como característica de la información financiera, es la cualidad de adecuar ésta al propósito de los usuarios, entre los que se encuentran los accionistas, los inversionistas, los trabajadores, los proveedores, los acreedores, el gobierno y, en general, la sociedad. La confiabilidad de los estados financieros refleja la veracidad de lo que sucede en la empresa. Los estados financieros se limitan a proporcionar una información obtenida del registro de las operaciones de la empresa bajo juicios personales y principios de contabilidad y las normas de información contable financiera, aun cuando generalmente sea una situación distinta a la situación real del valor de la empresa, sin embargo, la inflación como fenómeno económico los afecta, por lo que es necesario reexpresar los valores históricos que tienen diferente poder adquisitivo, en unidades monetarias equivalentes con el mismo poder adquisitivo que existe a la fecha de la actualización. En Antigua y Barbuda la reexpresión de los estados financieros no se aplica y es eso precisamente que se efectúa este trabajo para que se sirva como guía que es, y porque es importante para la toma de decisiones.
The owners and managers of businesses need to have factual financial information to make decisions that corresponds to the future operations of the company. The economic-financial information of a business is registered in the corresponding ledgers., in financial statements that the businesses emit and results profit in the direction process The expression “financial statements” comprise of: Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss Statements, Statement in changes in equity, Cash flow, notes, other statements and explicit material that identifies as part of the financial statements. The fundamental characteristics that the financial information ought to have are usability and confidentiality. Usability, as a characteristic of the financial information, is the quality to adjust it at the request of the users, among whom are shareholders, investors, workers, suppliers, manufacturers, the government and society in general. The confidentiality of the financial statement reflects the validity of the business operations. The financial statements limit portions of information obtained from the registered operations of the business under personal judgment and principles of accounts and the standards of financial information although when generally in a distinctive situation to the real situation of business of the business value. From this it can be deduced that the principle phenomenon originated by inflation that affect the business in a direct from are: shortage, scarcity of work, high production and finance costs. In Antigua and Barbuda the restatement of financial statements is not being applied hence the necessity of this work to serve as a guide of what is and why it is important to restate financial statements.
