Resumen
Se exponen las ideas del eminente profesor y precursor del movimiento bibliotecario gestado en Cuba en la primera mitad del siglo XX, Jorge Aguayo y de Castro. Se presenta la imagen que tuvo del contexto bibliotecológico que le correspondió vivir. Se ilustra, a grandes rasgos, una parte de nuestra tradición bibliotecaria y la postura asumida por nuestros antepasados en su tiempo. El examen se inserta al desarrollo del acontecer histórico social y de la rama a nivel mundial.
The ideas of this eminent professor and precursor of the librarian movement gestated in Cuba in the first half of the 20th century, Jorge Aguayo y de Castro, are exposed. The image he had of the library context in which he lived is presented, and a part of our library tradition, as well as the position assumed by our ancestors at that time are broadly illustrated. The analysis is inserted in the historical, social, and library development worldwide.
