Resumen
Santa Clara despierta un notable interés turístico por su privilegiada posición geográfca
respecto a los principales polos de la región
central de Cuba y sus valores patrimoniales e
histórico-culturales. Actualmente se proyecta
el incremento de su red hotelera y extrahotelera con participación activa del sector no estatal, a fn de hacerle frente a la creciente demanda del destino, sin embargo no existe una
evaluación bajo criterios de la sustentabilidad
de las instalaciones hoteleras para el turismo
de ciudad.
La presente investigación consiste en una
evaluación del grado de sustentabilidad en
instalaciones hoteleras de la ciudad de Santa
Clara, en relación con los impactos provocados por el desarrollo de esta modalidad turística. Se basa en el análisis del desarrollo del
turismo de ciudad en el orden internacional
y nacional, identifcando sus antecedentes y
tendencias actuales, analizando consideraciones acerca de la sustentabilidad y sus dimensiones y el desarrollo del turismo sustentable.
Se propone adecuar y aplicar un procedimiento basado en un sistema de variables,
indicadores y atributos para la evaluación del
grado de sustentabilidad en tres de las instalaciones hoteleras de la ciudad de Santa Clara:
Hotel Encanto Central, Hotel Encanto Florida
y Hotel América. Con la correcta aplicación de
este método se pretende facilitar la evaluación
de la sustentabilidad de las instalaciones hoteleras destinadas al turismo de ciudad, con el
objetivo de reducir los efectos negativos que
estos puedan ocasionar en el ecosistema urbano.

It is based on the analysis of the development of city tourism in the international and national order, identifying its antecedents and current trends, analyzing considerations about sustainability and its dimensions and the development of sustainable tourism. It is proposed to adapt and apply a procedure based on a system of variables, indicators and attributes for the evaluation of the degree of sustainability in three of the hotel facilities in the city of Santa Clara: Hotel Encanto Central, Hotel Encanto Florida and Hotel América. The correct application of this method is intended to facilitate the evaluation of the sustainability of hotel facilities for city tourism, with the aim of reducing the negative effects they may cause in the urban ecosystem.
