Resumen
La resistencia a los antimicrobianos supone un obstáculo importante en estos días y las plantas medicinales suponen una alternativa al tratamiento de numerosos afecciones causadas por bacterias y hongos. La Jatropha gossypifolia L. es utilizada por la población en diferentes formas de preparación para el tratamiento de enfermedades en la piel. En este estudio el objetivo es evaluar la actividad antimicrobiana de los extractos hidroalcohólico y acuoso de las hojas de Jatropha gossypifolia L que crece en la región central de Cuba. Primeramente, se recolectó la planta en distintas épocas del año. Se obtuvo como resultado que la droga posee índices numéricos que avalan la calidad del material vegetal. Se obtuvieron extractos hidroalcohólicos y acuoso que se caracterizaron por el tamizaje fitoquímico y entre sus metabolitos están saponinas, alcaloides, quinonas, fenoles, flavonoides, aminoácidos y coumarinas los cuales estuvieron presentes en todas las épocas del año estudiadas. Se cuantificaron los polifenoles, fenoles y flavonoides totales presentes en los extractos y varió el contenido de los mismos en las diferentes épocas de recolección. Se determinó la actividad antimicrobiana de los extractos hidroalcohólicos y acuoso mediante el método difusión en agar donde solo mostró actividad antimicrobiana frente a Staphylococuss aureus el extracto hidroalcohólico.
Antimicrobial resistance is a major obstacle these days and medicinal plants are an alternative to the treatment of numerous conditions caused by bacteria and fungi. Jatropha gossypifolia L. is used by the population in different forms of preparation for the treatment of skin diseases. In this study the objective is to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of the hydroalcoholic and aqueous extracts of the leaves of Jatropha gossypifolia L. that grows in the central region of Cuba. First, the plant was collected at different times of the year. It was obtained as a result that the drug has numerical indices that guarantee the quality of the plant material. Hydroalcoholic and aqueous extracts were obtained which were characterized by phytochemical screening and among their metabolites are saponins, alkaloids, quinones, phenols, flavonoids, amino acids and coumarins which were present at all times of the year studied. The total polyphenols, phenols and flavonoids present in the extracts were quantified and their content varied during the different harvesting seasons. The antimicrobial activity of the hydroalcoholic and aqueous extracts was determined by means of the diffusion method in agar where it only showed antimicrobial activity against Staphylococuss aureus in the hydroalcoholic extract
