However, most frequently it is found that students to a great extent are taught the rules of language, but are not always able to communicate adequately since they are not knowledgeable enough about the target culture. Taking into consideration this matter, it is extremely fundamental that students should have some background about the culture of the language studied from the very beginning. Taking into account the current situation of the teaching and learning process of English in the Introductory Course, the objective of this Diploma Paper is to propose the creation of a favourable environment for the teaching and learning of intercultural communication in the English Introductory Course in the faculty of Humanities at the Central University “Marta Abreu” of Las Villas.
