En la misma se propone como problema de investigación ¿Cómo se manifiesta el comportamiento informacional en los profesores del Departamento de Ingeniería Industrial de la Universidad Central “Marta Abreu” de Las Villas? La misma se orienta a determinar los aspectos teóricos-conceptuales referentes al comportamiento informacional en profesores universitarios; a describir el desempeño académico y científico de la comunidad de profesores del Departamento de Ingeniería Industrial de la Universidad Central “Marta Abreu” de Las Villas e identificar los patrones del comportamiento informacional de la comunidad objeto de estudio en cuanto a la necesidad, búsqueda, recuperación y uso de la información. Se utilizan los métodos empíricos análisis documental, encuesta y matemático-estadístico. Se emplean como técnicas de investigación el cuestionario y la entrevista semiestructurada. El estudio revela un nivel de importancia del comportamiento informacional de adecuado en un 72% y de un nivel de destreza adecuado en un 66% de la comunidad en estudio. Los patrones de comportamiento informacional de los profesores del Departamento de Ingeniería Industrial de la UCLV presentan similitudes con las investigaciones revisadas, analizadas y sintetizadas en los referentes teóricos de la investigación. Es significativo en ellos el uso de Internet a través del motor de búsqueda Google y es limitado el uso de la biblioteca.In this research, carried out a diagnosis about the informational behavior of professor´s Industrial Engineering Department in the Central University "Marta Abreu" of Las Villas. The research is descriptive, non-experimental transversal design, with a mixed approach. The question for the investigation: how is the informational behavior manifested in the professor´s Industrial Engineering Department in the Central University "Marta Abreu" of Las Villas? This research, focused on determining the theoretical-conceptual framework with respect to information behavior studies in college professors; describing the academic and scientific performance of the professor´s Industrial Engineering Department in the Central University "Marta Abreu" of Las Villas and identifying the study community´s informational behavior patterns in terms of need, seek, search and information use. The empirical methods are mathematical-statistical and documental analysis, besides the research techniques are questionnaire and interview. The study reveals an informational behavior- adequate level in 72% of importance, and the 66% for the skill level from this community. The professor’s behavior information patterns in the Industrial Engineering Department from the UCLV present similarities with the other studies analyzed in this research.
