The proposal responds to the demands of the senior high school which aims at achieving the integrated formation of the students in terms of their feelings, thinking and acting within the context of their school, the family and the surrounding community. It intends to make a contribution to the improvement of the teaching learning process in this level, particularly in terms of helping students become interested in reading in English and being able to interpret and summarize what they read, which proved deficient during the diagnosis stage of this research. The proposal is grounded on communicative ideas about the teaching of reading, and is substantiated on humanistic and socio-cultural views of pedagogy.
