In the present work is carried out a brief information about the truck of war ZIL-131 given to know the place of its manufacture, year and use in the course of these, it is also called the characterization of the steel with which it is formed the chassis of the ZIL vehicle 131. Using the method of spectral analysis of atomic emission-semi, it was found that the chemical elements vanadium and molybdenum are the order of 0.4 -0.5 and 0.15 % respectively. The metallographic analysis revealed that the steel presents a microstructure of the ferritic type-alloyed. The size of grains was determined by the method of comparison, giving the value of not 10 ASTM. The value of hardness of the steel tested gave 168 HV. The mechanical properties were determined using the tensile test. It is a compilation of the steels most commonly used in the construction of chassis.
