lagartos.
Studies of hurricanes effects on reptiles have not been in Cuba, even though the island is frequently hit by these events. To evaluate the effect of Irma hurricane on Anoles assemblage, the composition and structure were comparing before and after hurricane. For these purpose 10 sites located at forest of Cayo Coco, Sabana- Camagüey archipelagos were sampled. In each one, two band transects of 200 x 4 m were realized and located parallel to the road and 50 m apart. Five vegetation variables were taken in two plots of 100m2 in six of lizard sampling sites. Periods before and after hurricane were compared using diversity indexes and Anoles abundance (individuals/ 800 m2 ), as well as vegetation structure. As result, diversity indexes decreased and dominance increased after hurricane due to significative rice in relative abundance of Anoles jubar cocoensis. Changes in habitat use of Anoles were observed mainly for A. sagrei and A. jubar. The intense winds caused changes vegetation structure, with increase of ground cover and strata density below one meter of high. This offer shelters and perch sites to trunk- ground species. Canopy cover and maximum high of forest decreased significantly too. Evidences of significative relationship between vegetation structure and Anoles abundance were found after hurricane, which does not rule out its importance to maintain optimum microclimatic conditions for lizards.
