dc.description.abstractSe realizó un estudio de tipo descriptivo con un diseño no experimental en el mes de julio del 2004 en la Federación de Saint Kitts y Nevis con el objetivo de caracterizar el componente educativo de la salud sexual en adolescentes entre 13 - 20 años en Saint Kitts y establecer sus posibles causas. S La muestra se selecciona de forma voluntaria e incluyo a 38 sujetos de ambos sexos, entre 13 – 20 años de edad. Ellos pertenecían a Saint Kitts. Para la recogida de la información se utilizan un conjunto de métodos y técnicas (Observación, Completamiento de Frases (Rotter ajustado), Composición, Cuestionarios, incluyendo el cuestionario de salud sexual, Entrevistas). El análisis de los resultados fue de forma cuantitativa y cualitativa para los datos que así lo permitiera. Los resultados obtenidos muestran que llos principales problemas de salud están vinculados a los indicadores educativos y de comunicación. Las características fundamentales de la promoción de salud sexual son su carácter informativo y su enfoque no integrador. Las causas fundamentales de las dificultades son: insuficiente preparación en los recursos humanos en los temas de promoción de salud sexual y prevención de ITS/VIH/SIDA, no existen los intervínculos intra ni extra institucionales para esta actividad y no existencia de un programa rector de promoción de salud sexual que integre las acciones personales, familiares, institucionales, sociales con una visión multidisciplinaria.en_US
dc.description.abstractThis investigation was carried out using a descriptive type of study with a non experimental design in the federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis in the month of July 2004 with the objective to characterize the educational component of the sexual health in that population's adolescents. The sample was comprised of Kittitians only and was selected in a voluntary way. It included 38 subjects of both sexes, with an age range between 13 – 20 years. A group of methods and techniques were used for the collection of the information. They included Observation, Questionnaires including the questionnaire about sexual health, Interviews, Composition, Completion of phrases (Rotter ajusted). The results were analyzed in a quantitative and qualitative way for the data that it allowed it. The results obtained show that the main health problems are linked to the educational and of communication indicators. The fundamental characteristics of the promotion of sexual health are their informative character and their non integrative focus. The fundamental causes of the difficulties are insufficient preparation in the human resources in the topics of promotion of sexual health and prevention of ITS/VIH/SIDA, the interrelations intra y extra institutional don't exist for this activity and there is a non existence of a principal program of promotion for sexual health that integrates personal, family, institutional and social actions with a multidisciplinary vision.en_US
