Resumen
La experiencia en la práctica pedagógica y los resultados de diversas investigaciones evidencian que entre los nuevos retos que demanda el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje de la universidad cubana actual se encuentra el logro de la independencia cognoscitiva de los estudiantes, a partir de la aplicación del trabajo independiente como método científico, que en el presente trabajo se enfoca como en un conjunto de acciones concebidas desde direcciones estratégicas. En esta investigación se demuestra la coincidencia entre las acciones realizadas de forma espontánea por alumnos y profesores de la carrera de Ingeniería Civil en el trabajo independiente y las diseñadas para las cinco direcciones estratégicas incluidas en una monografía sobre las consideraciones teóricas y experiencias prácticas del método de trabajo independiente, la cual constituye la novedad y aporte de este trabajo. En el desarrollo de la investigación se emplearon los métodos del nivel teórico: analítico – sintético e inductivo – deductivo, del nivel empírico: análisis de documentos, entrevista a profesores de la carrera de Ingeniería Civil y otros docentes de la enseñanza superior, encuestas a estudiantes y criterios de especialistas, además se utilizó en el procesamiento de la información el análisis porcentual.

The experience in the pedagogic practice and the results of diverse investigations evidence that among the new challenges that the teaching-learning process of the current Cuban university demands is the achievement of the cognitive independence of the students, starting from the application of the independent work as scientific method that in the present work it is focused as a group of actions conceived from strategic addresses. In this investigation the coincidence is demonstrated among the actions carried out in a spontaneous way by students and professors of the career of Civil Engineering in the independent work and those designed for the five strategic addresses included in a monograph about the theoretical considerations and practical experiences of the method of independent work, which constitutes the novelty and contribution of this work. In the development of the investigation the methods of the theoretical level were used: analytic - synthetic and inductive - deductive, of the empiric level: analysis of documents, interviews to professors of the career of Civil Engineering and other educational of the higher education, surveys to students and specialists' approaches. The percentage analysis was also used in the processing the information. Key words: Method of independent work, cognitive independence, strategic addresses, practical experiences, monograph.
