Resumen
La caída de los precios a nivel mundial, los altos costos y el descenso en los
volúmenes de producción de azúcar condujeron junto a otras condicionantes a la
reestructuración del sector como parte de la nueva estrategia de desarrollo
iniciada con el siglo. Este proceso significó para la provincia de Villa Clara la
desactivación de más de la mitad de sus fábricas de azúcar.
El trabajo que se presenta es parte del proyecto sobre los bateyes azucareros
en reestructuración de la Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y obedece a las
necesidades de caracterizar la economía y la sociedad de estas comunidades
afectadas directamente por los cambios en la provincia de Villa Clara:
especialmente en el batey “San José” del municipio Placetas.
Con una estructura en dos capítulos se caracteriza la situación existente en el
batey “San José” antes de la reestructuración del Complejo Agro Industrial (CAI)
en año 2002 y después de la misma. Al mismo tiempo, se analizan los
principales efectos que sobre la economía y la sociedad han acontecido en dicho
batey. La economía y la sociedad son conocidas a través de la desactivación del
CAI “Hermanos Ameijeiras” y la creación de la granja surgida en el proceso y
que adoptó el mismo nombre. El aporte más significativo del trabajo se centra en la caracterización de los efectos económicos, sociales de la reestructuración azucarera en el batey “San José”, la que servirá a los decisores de la localidad para desarrollar una futura estrategia de desarrollo en esta en la misma.
The fall of the prices to world level, the high costs and the descent in the volumes of production of sugar led next to other conditions to the restructuring of the sector like part of the new development strategy begun with the century. This process meant for the county of Villa Clara the deactivation of more than half of its factories of sugar. The work that is presented is part of the project on the sugar places in restructuring of the Ability of Economic Sciences and it obeys the necessities of characterizing the economy and the societ y of these communities affected directly by the changes in the county of Villa Clara: especially an analysis is made in the place "San José" of the municipality Placetas. With a structure in two chapters the exis tent situation is characterized in the place "San José" before the restructuring of the Complex Industri al Agriculture (IFELL) in year 2002 and after the same one: at the same time that the main effects are analyzed that it has more than enough the economy and the society they have happened in this place. T he economy and the society are treated through the deactivation of the I FELL "Siblings Ameijeiras" and the creation of the farm of the same name. The most significant contribution in the work is centered in the characterization of the economic effects, social of the sugar restructuring in the batey "San José", the one that will be good to the persons of the town to develop a future development strategy in this community.
