Resumen
La presente investigación aborda el tema de la vigencia en Cuba de la Constitución
Política de la Monarquía española de 1812, sobre la base de sus repercusiones sobre los ayuntamientos municipales y la prensa de la época. Para ello se ha estructurado en dos capítulos. El primero está encaminado a ofrecer una panorámica de los antecedentes históricos que llevaron a la aprobación del texto constitucional, fundamentalmente la crisis de la monarquía ibérica, la invasión francesa a España y el proceso constituyente. En dicho capítulo también se hace referencia a la participación hispanoamericana en el proceso constitucional y su posterior recepción en estas tierras. En el segundo capítulo se valora la puesta en vigor de la Constitución de Cádiz en Cuba. Para ello se hace referencia a la acogida del texto gaditano en la Isla, desde sus implicaciones sobre los ayuntamientos municipales y las diputaciones provinciales cubanas, así como la introducción de un lenguaje político nuevo en la prensa que circuló durante el primer período constitucional.
The current research addresses the issue of the validity in Cuba of the Political Constitution of the Spanish Monarchy of 1812, on the basis of its impact on municipal councils and the press of the time. To this end, it has been structured in two chapters.The first one is aimed at providing an overview of the historical background that led to the approval of the constitutional text, fundamentally the crisis of the Iberian monarchy, the French invasion of Spain and the constituent process. This chapter also refers to the Spanish-American participation in the constituent process and its subsequent reception in these lands.The second chapter assesses the implementation of the Constitution of Cadiz in Cuba. To this end, reference is made to the acceptance of the Cadiz text in the Island, from its implications on the municipal councils and provincial councils of Cuba, as well as the introduction of a new political language in the press that circulated during the first constitutional period.
