In this research project, a study was carried out of a new production proposal for the use of tasteless alcohols in the Heriberto Duquesne distillery, based on a diagnosis of the current situation regarding this product, the diversification of the company and its potentialities, also carried out the design of a plant for the production of isoamyl acetate, from a residue of alcoholic distillation (fusel oil). This ester produced constitutes a product of high added value in the pharmaceutical, food, and paint industries, making it an attractive product.A bibliographic search was carried out to determine the main ways of using fusel oils and the different ways of production. of isoamyl acetate, these sources made it possible to propose a flow diagram, for which the flows were determined, by means of the mass and energy balances, as well as the design of the main equipment of the process, by means of the use of Hysys Software v3. 2. The balances showed that it is possible to process 250 kg / h of fusel, to obtain 140.4 kg / h of pure isoamyl acetate, using 95.95 kg / h of acetic acid for the reaction, as well as 169.32 kg / h of saturated steam for distillation operations and 4.64 m 3 / h of cooling water for distillation and reaction cooling. The economic analysis was carried out, obtaining a total investment amount of $ 1,017,741,943, as well as a total production cost of $ 1,3033988.902 / year, with a profit of $ 1,2508,252.36 / year and a recovery period discounted (PRD) of 1 years.
