Resumen
Cuba desde el triunfo de la Revolución el primero de enero de 1959 ha tenido como
característica la estatalización y centralización de la economía; lo que trajo consigo que
el Estado se ocupara de la administración de actividades no estratégicas para el país,
siendo esto una carga adicional que entorpece la administración de las actividades que
sí lo son.
En fin de rectificar errores cometidos en el proceso de la transición socialista se está
realizando en todo el país la “Actualización” del modelo económico cubano, regida por
los lineamientos de la política económica y social del Partido y la Revolución,
resultantes del 6to congreso del Partido Comunista de Cuba (PCC).
Debido a dicha actualización del modelo económico y el consiguiente reordenamiento
de la fuerza laboral en el sector estatal, sin entorpecer los principios socialistas, se
decidió ampliar el ejercicio por cuenta propia en todo el país a partir del 26 de octubre
del 2010.
Esta investigación tiene como propósito valorar críticamente las características y
estructuración del trabajo por cuenta propia en el municipio Manicaragua, logrando
valorar su estructura, comportamiento y particularidades en este municipio y
caracterizar los principales aportes y dificultades que presenta.

This research aims to critically evaluate the nature and structure of self-employment in the municipality Manicaragua, achieving assess its structure, behavior and characteristics in this county and characterize the main contributions and challenges it presents.
