Caracterización lingüística de los procesos de formación de hipocorísticos en estudiantes universitarios

Abstract

This paper offers results on the study of the formation processes of hypocoristic formation in university students. The objective is to characterize the formation of hypocoristic in university students taking into account the gender of the bearer. It is used as a sample the hypocoristic registered in a questionnaire applied to 600 university students of the Central University of Las Villas. As results, it is identified that the most used procedure for the formation of hypocoristic is truncation, in second place, the appreciative derivation in some of its forms and then those hypocoristic that were formed through the combination of two or more procedures. Finally, it is concluded that the characteristics of the hypocoristics depend on the gender variable, since there are differences between hypocoristics derived from feminine and masculine given names. Female given names generate more hypocoristic than male given names. In addition, the frequency of occurrence of the formation processes varies in relation to the type of given name.
