Resumen
En este trabajo de diploma se analizaron los métodos de selección de materiales más utilizados en la actualidad. Se enfatizó en el método gráfico, basado en la metodología de selección de materiales propuesta por el investigador Dr. Michael Ashby. Se realizó un estudio acerca de la utilización del software CES EduPack como herramienta de apoyo para la selección de materiales. Se enunciaron las características pedagógicas y educativas del software CES EduPack como referente para la selección de materiales y la necesidad de incluirlo en el currículo básico del Ingeniero Mecánico. Se realizó la preselección de materiales para dos casos prácticos demostrando la importancia de este método de selección.
In this diploma work the methods of selection of materials most used today were analyzed. Emphasis was placed on the graphic method, based on the material selection methodology proposed by the researcher Dr. Michael Ashby. A study was made about the use of the CES EduPack software as a support tool for the selection of materials. The pedagogical and educational characteristics of the CES EduPack software were stated as a reference for the selection of materials and the need to include it in the basic curriculum of the Mechanical Engineer. The preselection of materials for two practical cases was carried out demonstrating the importance of this selection method.
