In the cultivation of algae, it is possible to consume vast quantity of excess CO2 from the fertiliser industry, situated in the city of Cienfuegos. Utilisation of this gas will contribute to a reduction of environmental contamination produced by this chemical industry in the zone. In this project, a strategy was proposed that will facilitate consumption of the C02.To formulate this strategy, the characteristics of photosynthesis in algae was studied, there uses in the production of chemical products of commercial value was specified. Species potentially favourable was detected in this area. The characteristics of available algae system that will facilitate intense development were studied. The system that will ensure utilisation of the CO2 and increase in production was proposed for these algae in this zone. The excess CO2 from the fertiliser industry was also studied according to its capture, storage and transportation for application in the cultivation system of the algae.
