La investigación se realizó en el área de producción del banco de semilla certificada perteneciente a la Unidad Empresarial de Base de Atención a Productores (UEB-APA) José María Pérez de la Empresa Azucarera Villa Clara, ubicada en el municipio Camajuaní, durante el período de enero de 2017 a enero de 2018. El diseño experimental utilizado fue bloques al azar con tres repeticiones y tres tratamientos con el objetivo de evaluar la influencia de los marcos de plantación 1,40m, 1,60m y 1,40m + 0,40m sobre el crecimiento y el rendimiento agrícola y sus componentes en el cultivar C-90-469. Se evaluó la brotación y el ahijamiento, se determinó el largo y ancho de la hoja + 1, el número de hojas activas y área foliar, así como el largo, ancho y número de entrenudos por tallo y se determinó el índice de madurez. Para la determinación del estimado de rendimiento agrícola se tuvo en cuenta el número de tallos por metro lineal y el peso promedio de los tallos por tratamiento. En la distancia de plantación surco de base ancha se produjo un incremento del promedio de brotes por metro lineal, norma de ahijamiento y área foliar; el promedio de entrenudos, largo y diámetro de los mismos se comportó ligeramente inferior al resto de los tratamientos y se obtuvo un incremento significativo del número de tallos por metro lineal, alcanzándose un estimado de 89 991 tallos por hectárea indicador esencial por su incidencia en el rendimiento agrícola.
