Resumen
El Turismo Académico es una tipología turística contemporánea la cual ha emergido debido al aumento de los desplazamientos efecto de la internacionalización de la Educación Superior. Tanto las estancias temporales de estudiantes, profesores, eventistas y turistas en instituciones de Educación Superior como los movimientos académicos pueden ser considerados parte de dicho turismo, impulsados por diferentes programas de intercambio lo que ha posibilitado el crecimiento de esta modalidad en los últimos años. El objetivo general del presente trabajo es elaborar una estrategia para la gestión de la modalidad Turismo Académico en el destino Villa Clara a partir de un procedimiento científicamente fundamentado que contribuya al desarrollo de la modalidad en el territorio y a su vez al fortalecimiento de su gestión. La realización del diagnóstico estratégico del Turismo Académico en Villa Clara denotó las principales debilidades, oportunidades y el tipo de estrategia a seguir, además de constituir un referente para la aplicación de un procedimiento de gestión del Turismo Académico, cuyos resultados se exponen en forma de objetivos estratégicos. La investigación aportó una estrategia eficaz para la gestión y el desarrollo del Turismo Académico en el destino Villa Clara. Se emplearon técnicas empíricas como la observación, el análisis documental y la consulta a especialistas.
Academic Tourism is a contemporary tourism typology which has emerged due to the increase of displacement effect of the internationalization of Higher Education. Both the temporary stays of students, professors, event participants and tourists in Higher Education institutions and academic movements can be considered parts of this tourism, driven by different exchange programs which has made posible the growth of this modality in recent years. The general objective of this work is to develop a strategy for the management of the Academic Tourism modality in the Villa Clara destination, based on a scientifically based procedure that constributes to the development of the modality in the territory and, in turn, to the strengthening of its management. The realization of the strategic diagnosis of academic tourism in Villa Clara denoted the main weaknesses, opportunities and the type of strategy to be followed, as well as constituting a reference for the application of an academic tourism management procedure, whose results are presented in the form of objectives strategic. The research provided an effective strategy for the management and development of Academic Tourism in the destination Villa Clara. Empirical techniques were used, such as observation, documentary analysis and consulting specialists.
