Resumen
El artículo presenta un breve acercamiento al desarrollo histórico del modelo por competencias y
su repercusión en América Latina, lo que constituyó el centro de atención de esta investigación
que tiene como propósito esencial la reflexión acerca de los fundamentos teóricos del proceso
formativo en el contexto de la educación superior ecuatoriana desde la perspectiva de un modelo
pedagógico por competencias. La investigación analiza el proceso en la Universidad Técnica de
Quevedo, describe la concepción del modelo pedagógico por competencias asumido, así como las
bases filosóficas, psicopedagógicas y metodológicas del mismo. Su ejecución requirió de la
utilización de diferentes métodos de investigación como el analítico-sintético, el histórico-lógico,
el sistémico estructural, el inductivo-deductivo, así como entrevistas, observaciones y análisis de
documentos, que favorecieron la constatación de las carencias y potencialidades del objeto de
estudio. Es, además, resultado de la investigación que realiza el autor principal del trabajo, en su
proceso de formación doctoral, con un enfoque dialéctico materialista donde se combinan los
métodos cuantitativos y cualitativos. Los resultados obtenidos constituyen referentes teóricos.
The article presents a brief approach to the historical development model of competences and its repercussion in Latin America. The center of attention of this research is to reflect on the theoretical foundations of the formative process in the context of the Ecuadorian Higher Education, from the perspective of a pedagogical model by competences. This research analyzes the process in the Technical University of Quevedo, describes the conception of the Pedagogical Model for assumed Competences, as well as the philosophical, psychopedagogical and methodological bases of it. Its execution requires the use of different research methods such as analytical-synthetic, historical-logical, structural systemic, inductive-deductive, as well as interviews, observations and analysis of documents, which favor the verification of shortcomings and potentialities. of the object of study. It is also presented the result of the research carried out by the main author of the work, in his doctoral training process, with a materialist dialectical approach where quantitative and qualitative methods are combined. The results are related to the theorists.
