Resumen
La modalidad de eventos se posiciona entre las actividades más importantes dentro del
segmento de turismo especializado, lo que resulta muy tentador para las instalaciones
hoteleras en función de diversificar la oferta, regular la estacionalidad turística y obtener
beneficios no solamente en las áreas tradicionales (alojamiento y gastronomía) sino
también en la comercialización, los servicios en general y la imagen como hotel
organizador. Para el Hotel Unión, el sesionar como hotel sede de eventos constituye una
ventaja que debe atender con mucha más premura, pues aún no se han logrado los niveles
de profesionalidad requeridos, evidenciándose a su vez, improvisaciones en la gestión, así
como debilidades en la coordinación de acciones estratégicas y su proyección eficaz. El
presente trabajo, de forma preliminar, trata de cubrir algunos de los requisitos
indispensables para el éxito del turismo de eventos en este hotel. Con la aplicación de la
Matriz DAFO se diagnosticó su situación actual referente a la modalidad analizada, a fin de
determinar las principales deficiencias relacionadas con la misma. Se realiza entonces la propuesta de algunas estrategias con las acciones correspondientes para contribuir a la
gestión efectiva del turismo de eventos y un estudio posterior más exhaustivo sobre esta
temática que conlleve a la consecución de los objetivos de trabajo trazados y al éxito
empresarial de esta instalación hotelera.
The meeting specialty is regarded as one of the paramount activities within the specialized tourism, which is very tempting to the hotels as for branching out the offer, adjust the touristic low season and get profits in the traditional areas (accommodation and gastronomy) and others as sales management, general services and the image as organizer hotel. To the Union Hotel the fact of running as a meeting hotel is advantageous and must regarded as a higher importance issue since the required professional levels have not been reached yet. Along with it, in the hotel, it results evident the management inventiveness, as well as weak strategic actions’ coordination and weak planning. The present work tries to illustrate some of the crucial requirements to the success of this tourism specialty. Through a DAFO Matrix was possible to know the greatest deficiencies related to meeting tourism. The results are presented as several strategies with its particular actions to get a successful management of meeting tourism and make easier a later and deeper study to set forward the proposed objectives and the enterprise success of this hotel.
