The present investigation constitutes a proposal of an analytical program of the subject for the own or optional / elective curriculum for the development of professional competences in hypermedia journalism within the Study Plan E. From the qualitative perspective, an analysis of the professional competences demanded for the quality exercise of hypermedia journalism is carried out. In achieving the objectives set, the bibliographic-documentary and the bibliographic-documentary review technique are used as the empirical method and the analytical-synthetic and inductive-deductive methods as theoretical methods. In addition, the Grounded Theory method is used. The semi-structured interview and the focus groups constitute the techniques for collecting information on the subject. The data obtained constitute the theoretical support of the paper that helped to identify and characterize the competences, abilities and demanded tools for work in the digital world. The main result of the research is the design of a proposal for the analytical program of the optional subject Multimedia content management that comprises the professional competences to be developed for hypermedia journalism together with the basic skills and tools used in the digital setting. These will contribute to the training of a multipurpose, multimedia journalist, with command of the transmedia narrative and hypertext knowledge, together with consistent ethical behavior, which allows greater credibility before the audience, favoring interaction and feedback.
