Resumen
A lo largo de toda su obra escrita Alejo Carpentier manifestó un interés recurrente por la cultura popular. Tanto en sus textos ficcionales como no ficcionales puede rastrearse dicho interés. Aunque solamos pensar, usualmente, a Carpentier como el gran novelista que fue verdaderamente, no puede obviarse que fue también un fértil periodista. José Antonio Portuondo, uno de los más destacados estudiosos de la vida y obra de Alejo Carpentier divide la obra periodística carpentereana en cinco períodos. El objeto de estudio de nuestra investigación abarca las tres primeras etapas, desde sus primeros trabajos entre 1922-1928 en Cuba y sus escritos entre 1939-1945 de regreso en Cuba, después de once años en París. La presente investigación tiene un capítulo introductorio, donde dilucidamos algunas cuestiones teóricas y tres capítulos de desarrollo que coinciden con cada una de las etapas analizadas de la obra periodística carpentereana. En la investigación, procedimos al análisis con los conceptos elaborados por la teoría cultural y a partir de una lectura e interpretación de los trabajos de Carpentier en su contenido manifiesto. Trabajamos con las crónicas, siempre teniendo presente las reglas del análisis discursivo y sus categorías esenciales, como pueden ser: la relación texto y contexto, situación de enunciación, objetivos explícitos o declarados por el autor, relaciones intertextuales, etc., para alcanzar el objetivo de la investigación el cual es: demostrar la importancia que tiene la cultura popular y de masas a través de la obra periodística carpentereana.
Throughout his written work, Alejo Carpentier manifested a recurrent interest in popular culture. This interest can be traced in his fictional and non-fictional texts. Although we usually think of Carpentier as the great novelist he truly was, it cannot be ignored that he was also a fertile journalist. José Antonio Portuondo, one of the most prominent scholars of Alejo Carpentier's life and work, divides Carpentier's journalistic work into five periods. The object of study of our research covers the first three stages, from his first works between 1922-1928 in Cuba and his writings between 1939-1945 back in Cuba, after eleven years in Paris. This research has an introductory chapter, where we elucidate some theoretical questions, and three development chapters that coincide with each one of the analyzed stages of Carpentier’s journalistic work. In the research, we proceeded to the analysis with the concepts elaborated by the cultural theory and from a reading and interpretation of the works of Carpentier in its manifest content. We work with articles, always keeping in mind the rules of discursive analysis and its essential categories, such as: text and context relation, situation of enunciation, explicit or declared by the author objectives, intertextual relations, etc., to achieve the objective of the research which is: to demonstrate the importance of popular and mass culture through the journalistic work of Carpentier.
