Resumen
En Santa Clara el aumento poblacional y el desarrollo turístico ha generado un aumento del
tránsito vehicular y peatonal, esta situación provoca afectaciones en las principales calles del
centro histórico de la ciudad, trayendo consigo incrementos en la congestión, demoras y
accidentalidad. La presente investigación tiene como objetivo realizar estudios en las
principales calles del centro histórico de la ciudad de Santa Clara, mediante la aplicación de la
metodología propuesta en el Highway Capacity Manual, versión 2010. Además, se realiza la
modelación computacional de la zona objeto de estudio en el programa Synchro 10, con el
objetivo de realizar modificaciones del tránsito en el modelo computacional, encaminadas a
solucionar los problemas detectados; para posteriormente proponer una serie de mejoras que
posibiliten el mejor funcionamiento de la zona estudiada.

In Santa Clara the population increase and the tourist development has generated an increase of the vehicular and pedestrian traffic, this situation causes affectations in the main streets of the historical center of the city, bringing with it increases in the congestion, delays and accidents. The objective of this research is to carry out studies in the main streets of the historic center of the city of Santa Clara, through the application of the methodology proposed in the Highway Capacity Manual, version 2010.
